What a sweet day I had today. I got to spend time with a new friend.
We took a 45-minute walk, gabbing the whole time, and then spent another hour at the kitchen table finishing up our chat. Time flew by and we never seemed to run out of anything to talk about.
And we encouraged one another. Just by listening and offering bits of advice here and there. When the friend left I realized I was very peaceful and ready to get started on a project I’ve been procrastinating about. She didn’t lecture me but asked questions and helped me see the bigger picture or should I say smaller picture? Because in my mind I had made this project so big it seemed insurmountable. And with just a few kind words, I was able to see the true picture: this was something I could do and I wouldn’t be doing it alone because my precious Heavenly Father is always with me.
The Bible reminds us about the value of godly friendships. We read in Proverbs 12:26a [NLT] that “The godly give good advice to their friends…” I was definitely on the receiving end of this promise today and it was like a God-gift to me.
See – it really was a sweet day today.
p.s. I’m going to post something in the next day or two. Greg’s been having SO much fun on his bathroom project that I decided to write about it. Stay tuned…
